The Serena Hotels hosted a star-studded evening for Season 02 of the Sarangi Music Initiative. 

The finalists were chosen by a professional and well known jury panel comprising Hadiqa Kiani, Nizar Lalani and Sarmad Ghafoor based on their submissions. 

The top six finalists of Sarangi Season 02 i.e. Awais Kazmi from Lahore, Faraz and Salman from Sahiwal, Ans Rehmani from Rahim Yar Khan, Sajjad Haider from Faisalabad, Hunza Folks from Hunza and son of Niazi Brothers from Islamabad entertained the audience through the outstanding live performances.

Classical singer Javed Bashir revisits &#8216;Piya Tu Kaahe Rootha Re&#8217;. Originally sung for the Bollywood film &#8216;Kahaani&#8217; starring Vidya Balan, &#8216;Piya Unplugged&#8217; is surely a treat for all the music lovers out there. 

The track features Javed Bashir&#8217;s son Junaid Bashir on vocals, Awais Kazmi on guitars, Amir Azhar on bass, and Sunny Jimmy Khan on tabla. The song was recorded, mixed, and produced by Rizwan Butt at XS Studios.

Javed Bashir releases ‘Piya Unplugged’

LUMS Music Fest (LMF) is the largest national musical competition and event held by any society in Pakistan. 

It is a 3-day event which consists of various sets of competitions including: Battle of the Bands, Instrumental Competitions, Music Trivias, Eastern and Western Singing Competitions and Antakshari. 

Over 3,000 students from universities and high schools across Pakistan participate in LMF, making it the largest event hosted annually by the Music Society of LUMS. 

In 2015, Awais Kazmi participated in the Instrumental Category and won the first prize against a multitude of performances including sitar, piano, and guitar.

Formed in 2012, the Naqsh band comprises of Awais Kazmi on guitars, Subhan Zahid on vocals, and Waleed Rana on drums as the core founding members. Other members include Haseeb Shahid (guitar), Usama K. Zafar (guitar) and Usman Hussain (bass). This was the first win of the band which grabbed the attention of many music lovers and opened doors to new and exciting opportunities.

Naqsh Band wins LUMS Music Fest 2014

Future Team Pakistan delegates won awards for their outstanding performance at the 3rd BRICS and SCO Student Spring International Festival in Stavropol, Russia. 

Awais Kazmi from Pakistan, who is an emerging guitarist won the ‘Art Hall’ category of International Spring Festival-Russia for his best performance where 90 performers from over 25 nationalities showed their talent. 

The award was handed over to Awais Kazmi and Aqib Javed Khan, head of Pakistani delegation at festival.
